`Rosemary Baer stared at the TV news picture in disbelief. In the back row of prospective jurors for the Manson trial that the artist had sketched, she thought she recognized her husband`s face. John, watching with her, nodded. `Don`t jump to any conclusions yet,` he said. `The lawyers have been shooting us down by the dozens. Wait and see if we`re actually sworn in tomorrow.`

The car radio confirmed it the next day. `Among the jurors sworn in today for the Tate-La Bianca trial were John M. Baer, 61, electrical tester for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Indications are that the selected jurors will be `sequestered` or locked up for the duration of this sensational murder trial, and legal authorities say this one may last as long as six months.`
