GY-271 HMC5883L 3-Axis Magnetometer Compass Sensor Module [3V-5V] is a high sensitivity magnetic sensor that uses hall sensing technology to detect and measure the three geomagnetic axes. This sensor module is designed based on the HMC5883L 3-Axis Digital Compass chip, that converts any magnetic field to a differential voltage output on 3 axes. The HMC5883 chip operates based on Honeywell’s Anisotropic Magnetoresistive (AMR) technology, that provides more accuracy in-axis sensitivity and linearity than other magnetic sensors. This chip is comprised of high-resolution magneto-resistive sensors with dedication amplification, self degaussing strap drivers, offset cancellation, and a 12-bit ADC. This module has an internal voltage regulator for the power supply requirement so can be supplied with 3V to 5V DC to measure both the direction and the magnitude of Earth’s magnetic fields from -8 gauss up to +8 gauss with ±2 miligauss accuracy that can achieve 1 to 2-degree accuracy in navigation. This compass module can communicate with microcontroller and Arduino boards trough the I2C and SPI serial bus interface. This sensor is an ultra-low power consumption with a tiny size that is specialized for portable or battery supplied devices such as robot navigation systems, cellphone navigation system, tablet navigation system, notebook navigation system, automatic navigation systems, and portable navigation devices
